The Nashville Project

The second house project on The New Home Show is entitled, "Le Cheval". It's a country French--transitional style house.

The plans are from Scholz Design of Toledo, Ohio. There are 8 episodes in the Le Cheval series. The home is built 3 miles south of Franklin, Tennessee in the Southpoint sub-division.

We used Boral bricks on the exterior of the all brick home. We trimmed out the front door area with a cultured stone type product. The home is used at the model home for the Southpoint neighborhood.

The entire home is built from engineered lumber. We used Trus-Joist engineered I-joists, studs and laminated beams. This is the first home we have built entirely out of engineered lumber. We feel this will become more common in future years as old growth lumber stocks are exhausted.

Like the Wedge project, we started at the beginning with a vacant lot. We had a number of viewer requests for a basement--so we decided to include a basement on this project.

We ran into major weather problems in Nashville and the project progressed a little slower than we had hoped. This is not unlike any other normal construction project and we didn't try to "hide" these delays.

We had a network deadline to meet and we were not able to film the completed house in the last episode. However our dedicated staff expanded our construction projects to include more detailed installations of the kitchen cabinets and garage doors.

We also shot an entire episode on location at the International Builders Show in Dallas, Texas that featured innovative new products. This has turned out to be a very popular episode with our viewers and we're glad to have been able to bring it to you.

Because this is the model home for the neighborhood we were able to put some extra features into the home that we normally wouldn't do. We thought you might enjoy seeing some of these extra features.

The New Home Show is currently seen on over 95 PBS stations across the United States. If your station does not yet carry The New Home Show, please call and ask them to. Viewers like you are very important and the station folks do value your requests.
